The Civilised Warrior
The old warrior supreme, comes to me in a dream
His purpose is not clear, never a word do I hear
Many battles have scarred his ancient face
His people decimated by a civilised race
Civilised ignorance of his spiritual connection
Justifies genocide for civilised protection
Manichaeism is a dangerous view
Standing in the darkness may be the light to you
I'm the son of a Lion, he of an Eagle
Two opposing cultures, both earthly regal
Civility, underdeveloped, our hearts harden
But brothers, yoked through a mystical garden
The odyssey I'm living, on the way to my end
Is somehow directed by my ancient friend
He is waiting for me, for what I don't know
An eagle in heaven, watching the lion below
I'm looking forward to answers, life's not what it seems
But for now I'm content, when he visits my dreams
