Death and life indeed
Are great considerations,
But even they could make
No change in one's true self;
And how much less could
Ranks and wages do so?
Being such, man's spirit
Might pass over high peaks
And find no obstacles to him;
He might enter
The greatest depths
And not be wet by them.
At the same time, he might occupy
The smallest office
Without being distressed by it.
Such man is the fullness
Of the world -- the more he gives,
The more he has.
