On the Fence of the Inner Circle

Today, December 29th, is the twelfth day of the lunar calendar


Poem Artwork

Coming nearer to the edge of the elitist circle,

His explicit trust returns to him as all validation;

His ascent at the top is approved by Heaven --

He has gotten the Mandate of governing, as well

 
As access to the divine realm of celestial beings.
 
 
Sacrificing and feasting on the Mount Olympus,
 
He wallows in lust and kingly brilliance,
 
Enjoying them together with his many friends
 
Whom he has come across in the southern lands.
 
 
Nevertheless, such a fiery alliance will lead him back
 
To extinguishing, which is beyond his ability to avert.
 
At the end of the day, that will prevent him from going
 
His own way but bring him back to the pitch darkness
 
He years ago left behind him starting from the bottom.

I guess this is a warning that the higher one goes in their career, the riskier it becomes. Especially, when one uses rank or power to harassing by way of higher rank or position.

Indeed, lust and kingly brilliance do not go hand in hand, the one denigrates the other, leading as you suggest here to the fall.

It is unclear to me whether these recent poems are meant to be stand-alones. It seems that they are interrelated somehow.
