Well Gals n' Guys - this FRIGGIN' site just screwed me again! SHIT HAPPENS, RIGHT? After carefully typing in paragraphs of descriptive material here, spending about a half hour or more, being so FUNNY -- ZAP! When I clicked to SUBMIT, i had been kicked off, with no warning whatsoever, and ALL WAS LOST! Needless to say, now I'm in "PISSED-OFF" mood, and have no desire to re-consruct the original creation - SORRY, GANG! Suffice it to say that the reference is to: The Johns Hopkins University, Homewood Campus, Post Office. BOTTOMS UP!

"AS I FLUSH THE JOHN" Copyright: 2/28/06 - Tom Hyland T’was nigh onto Thirty-Three years ago, that this Title was Born! After six years I left Hopkins once Before, early on a November Morn. Back then, we had gone through Four Bosses, and three Deans Pro-Fee collections were good, so the Ends justified the Means! Today, is quite different, having handled huge volumes of mail, Another six years SHOT-TO-HELL, as off in the Sunset I Sail ! We had good times n’ bad, An’ some T’wixt n’ T’weenie, T’will miss the smilin’ face of Lil Miss Jeanie! Ah yes, there’s been Judith n’ Tammy, An’ Gwendolyn Dear, N’ Pete n’ Darell, Corey, n’ other Temps - ALL who once worked here! They all hustled n’ bustled, like wolves in a pack, but Hailed like a Chief, Ole Andy Sherry of Mac! Still working hard, like a young Boy, is Ole "Rev” Roy. He supes all the Drivers, N’ Fathers them much: Barry n’ Val, Tyrone n’ Tony, David n’ Henry - to mention a few to all the "Guys" I bid you - farewell n’ ADIEU ! Oh, the "Gilman Gals" from all Departments above, have picked up their mail daily, and did it with LOVE ! There’s Ginny n’ Gina, N’ Clarissa n’ delicious Telisha, Mav-a-lous Marva, and Suzie, both mild, compare them all with Vonnie - the "WILD-Child"! Also Becky, once German, but now Romance, per chance, An’ also Ryan, first name of Nance! Well, thru the years, I’ve Bitched n’ Moaned, N’ cussed n’ Fussed, but the in-efficiencies n’ deficiencies of Academia should NOT be Hushed! If improvements are truly to be made, then the plans of Mice n’ men MUST be layed! Both Macro n’ Micro-cosms must need investigations, then Fixin’ things with Jubilations! Well, we’ve sold our wares - Stamps, Money Orders, n’ such, N’ handled TONS n’ TONS of mail, but now our Departments DEFUNCT - an’ you’ll MISS us all - MUCH! So, like the Gentleman Dapper, who stepped out of the "Crapper", forgetting to ZIP-UP his FLY - I say with a BLUSH, this "JOHN I MUST FLUSH“ N’ Retirement is the Reason WHY!!! "WOULD YOU PLEASE PASS ME THE TISSUE?" :) :) :) TOM.

Awww, I like this poem. I work in a call center and the turnover ratio is incredible. I have been there so long that I have seen so many people come and go.
Unfortunately I have not retired yet. lol I have a long way to go.
This poem is excellent.
PS. I have had so much of my stuff erased, I finally got microsoft word on my computer and use that first, then cut and paste the poetry to this site.

Ahem, if you put your work in a word doc, then cut and paste, you don't lose anything? And, you have an archive of work on you home computer, NOT all stashed at AD. (How many times have I mentioned this?) ROFL. Probably as many times as you've been disappointed.
