What's really amusing about this poor chap is the fact that his surname is German and in the German language, in sets of 'IE' and 'EI' paired vowels, the second of the two paired vowels receives the emphasis (not the first). Thus, "Weiner" should be pronounced 'WYY-NER' (strictly speaking, it should be 'VYY-ner', since in German the letter 'W' is also pronounced 'FV', but that's a fine point). His name is therefore NOT properly pronounced 'WEE-ner', but 'WYY-ner'. Apparently this fellow is either not aware of his German heritage or doesn't care. If he did care, he'd have taken GREAT pains to make sure the press at least gets his name right ("WYY-ner" after committing an embarrassment of this sort. What a putz!
