The tan tiger sits in the front window

Watching the leaves of the ash tree,

Now a golden yellow,

Slowly drift to the earth

Piling up to keep the feet

Of the ornamental crab warm

on those cold chilly nights,

that come more often now.

The marble sized apples on the

Crab tree are now showing

A blush of red on their cheeks.

They will become food

For the birds of winter

When the north winds blow

And the snow covers the yard.

Soon the tan tiger will lie

In the warm winter sun,

Watching the birds

And think of

Spring days and

Apple blossoms

And newborn ash leaves

On the trees.
