Don’t ask me why he left you, I don’t know.
If I was with you I could never go.
Don’t ask me why he turned away from you
For that is something I could never do.

Don’t ask me why he ever walked away.
I never could, it’s not for me to say.
Don’t ask me why he turned from all your love,
For you are all I’m ever dreaming of.

Don’t ask me why your words fell on deaf ears,
For I have hung on all your words for years.
Don’t ask me why it seemed you were not there,
For I would live to shower you with care.

Don’t ask me why you ever broke apart,
For nothing ever changes in my heart.
Don’t ask me why love didn’t go as planned,
For loving you is all I understand.

But if you must, then go ahead and ask,
For really, I am equal to the task.
His lack of love- the answer has to be-
Please hear me now, because he wasn’t me.
