Lines written pondering divorce.

Erase

For hearts like mine there is no peace
Except in knowing that release
Will finally one day come to me,
Erase what should not ever be.

Oh there were those who were amused
By art that bleeds from the abused
But now this blood is running dry,
The art was just the first to die.

No words that rhyme, no heart to feel
The flashbacks are what really steal
Potential life, what might have been-
What dreams built up have now caved in.

What sacrifice, were God’s appeased?
By all I’ve ever known I’m teased
My pathways led in to a wall
As if I never walked at all.

I’ve lived to wish that it were true -
Perhaps it is- I never knew
The things I’ve known most all my life
Erased by what was called a wife.

What exquisite cadence and flow, John!! And your word choices and weaving, wonderful! There is a ... wisdom that winds through this piece, like you were giving peace to the reader along with your anguish.

One of your finest.

Put your past behind you, my friend. Focus on what the future holds for you. You have a tender, loving heart. You will find someone deserving of you and your precious son. My thoughts and prayers have always been with you.

Standing On My Knees by Pinkstone
