It never diminished,
After all those months…
If I got up in the night,
I’d still glance out the window
And notice your car in the driveway…
Trying to believe you were really here with me,
And I wondered why such a simple pleasure
Seemingly out of nowhere
Could ever mean so much.
Last night
Every hour on the hour
Looking out in to the darkness
At that empty driveway
I wondered again-
Why nothing is simple.
