What Did I See? What did I see so long ago That made me have to love you so? What made me think in Heaven’s name That love was more than just a game? I can’t remember what it was. Perhaps I’m better off because If I could see it still today The pain would never go away. The pain of knowing what can’t be- Whatever I no longer see. I just must learn that what I feel Is not a part of what is real. Still, I can feel some phantom pain- Some part of you that will remain- A reason shadows will persist Of dreams I must have somehow missed. John H. Bidwell

The longing in this poem is clear, John. I hope this is a fictional write because you seemed so happy, the last time I heard. This piece reaches the innermost facets of the human emotion and I pray that, if true, you find peace in your own words and poetry.
