One Two Punch

Don’t think about it.
Easier said than done.
So this is self inflicted,
But I’m not looking at your memories-
They are mine…
Every one a knock out-
Because I loved you.
I always love, so I just remember when I could.

10th anniversary dinner at Charlie’s Crab in Florida.
Driving our son home from the hospital.
Feeding Mischief. (A horse at Jockey Hollow.)
Did you remember?
Teaching you to drive.
Staying up for Leno.
Breakfast at the Filling Station.

Don’t think about it.
Yeah right.

Our first puppy.
Car broke down-
We’re stuck at the Pocono Sheraton…Aw shucks.
The family of raccoons at the Tourne Park.
Blueberry. (An upper cut.)
Our own word for our love I won’t repeat.

One two punch…
Memories of how we were
And I still am.
