En garde

I hate the happy memories
Since we are now apart;
And passing through the places where
I used to have my heart.

To know I’ll never find you though
You somehow still exist,
And everywhere that’s beautiful
Is somewhere we have kissed.

I can’t pick up the pieces so
I leave them on the floor,
And never can go barefoot- you
Don’t love me anymore.

The time’s long past to let it go,
I’m told to cut the cord-
But stand here in my humble pose
Admiring the sword.

In my experience, once you have someone deeply, you have given them a part of your soul and they are never not a part of your "self." I can relate to what you express within these verses, John. Love and peace to you,

Regis

Sad, haunting but beautiful. This is definitely one of your best.

So very sad, and I know the feeling well.

Seems as though we're on a "similar" page this morning, John....well expressed and I love the lines,"I can’t pick up the pieces so
I leave them on the floor,And never can go barefoot," and "I hate the happy memories Since we are now apart."
