but letting go is crucial to grow away from

but too...I cannot fathom how hard it is to let go
of a life partner either as so deeply expressed here

There is a German "Wisdom of Life" that says something like, "No matter what your situation, good or bad, it will change."

At 77 years of age, John, I've lived long enough to learn to embrace your title "Nothing Lasts Forever" and the content of your verses. But in my view--and that of several others, at least, here on Authors den--Love is one thing that may endure in the Evermore.

(I refer you to my recent poem, "I Sit Alone and Cry." And, also, to my article, "I Was Made for You.")

But in support of your stated philosophy, my wife has a little saying stuck to the side of our refrigerator: "This too shall pass."
So I guess it means either that we should appreciate more the good we have while we have it OR we can look forward to the bad we unfortunately own as passing on, soon.

As you can tell, I find your "Nothing Lasts Forever" a very fine work filled with insight and provocation.
