I used your poise, your looks, your charm-
Without intending any harm
To build a dream of love most true -
But by mistake I thought it you.

For you, like none before- I shared
As Heaven sent me gifts prepared
For soulmates like I thought you were
When telling God, “It’s all for her.”

It’s not your fault, I see it’s mine-
But how my heart was made to shine-
Who dares to question love that strong?
But now I see that I was wrong.

This heart can do the strangest thing-
It translates what the angels sing-
But doesn't know who love is for
And thought it you I should adore.

I’m sorry, can I even say
I’m not supposed to feel this way?
That loving you meant more than breath
And learning truth is finding death?

God- I'm rambling- always was…
Love and dreams now lost because
Some veil was lifted, I’m alone-
These last words carved into stone.
