You have dragged so much into my life
That isn’t you.
And I have stood here staring at the miracle of love
That is you.
But my wings are crying.
So I’m asking you to consider
That all the weight you have been carrying
Has made you the strong person you are
As it was supposed to do.
But maybe now it’s time
To put it all down-
And fly with me.
A relationship considered, a moment captured, the words uttered, the resolution sounded. That is exactly what a poem should do: hit us over the head and leave us wondering what happened. Beautifully understated. John
