Sometime.

When you are there just killing time-
And I am here the same,
It seems as if some kind of crime.
But who could be to blame?

There seems to be no choice in this,
No matter how I try.
My wishes fall in some abyss
And I can’t figure why.

I guess we know the reasons for
The way things seem to be.
But feelings knock on every door
Just longing to be free.

I step outside and take a walk,
But no one’s ever there
To tag along or have a talk
Of anything to share.

Oh- people scurry to and fro-
Like dogs that chase their tails,
And maybe we don’t want to know
Another dream that fails.

But I don’t think you’d be that way,
Just missing all the cues.
So maybe I’ll be bold and say
What have we got to lose?

This is it, you’re making me cry. Perhaps missing all the cues, or thinking they couldn’t possibly be for her. Be bold and tell her. What beautiful poetry you write. It goes straight to my heart.

Wistful and illuminating words
we would do well to contemplate
before it’s too late…

This one is like, "I'll see you sometime…" And then we never do, never make the call. Miss the opportunity. Reminding us when we say things like, "Let's have lunch sometime."

Missed opportunities for greater intimacy.

Wow! This came from a deep and caring place.
I've often said "get rid of the adjectives and adverbs"
and what you have left is poetry. You have just written
a poem for the ages. summa cum laude.
