This could be anyone's neighborhood

My Neighborhood

In my neighborhood I see

Drugs, gangs and dysfunctional families

Drug dealers and killers being born and bread to attack by the age of 13

Where there target number is lucky number 133

Weed, fiends and the police

Grass being every color but green

Bums lying on the concrete begging for money

Itching a scratching

Asking to fuel their drug addictions with lies and convictions

“I just need money for the bus”

Liar

You just need my money to get higher than a kite

But you can’t tell them to take a hike

These are your family members. Aunts and uncles addicted to crack cocaine

It’s a shame

Because these same killers, drug dealers and fiends

Are sharing the same block with little kids playing basketball in the streets

I look to the left

And see where a little boy was shot to death

In a crossfire between to rival gangs retaliating

I look to the right

And see boarded up shacks, infested with roaches and rats

Stray dogs and dead cats, broken glass and grass taller than your little brother

And my neighbors are robbing and killing each other

Single moms raising children without fathers who helped conceive them

Children become convicts and addicts because there was such a lack of guidance

Little girls becomes runaways

Chasing after men and boys who had some slick words to say

Kids and grown men stealing to get rims and timbs because they are too broke to purchase them

Can’t pay their bills

But some can roll around in big black Cadillac’s

With there gas tanks on E

A mouth full of gold teeth

Clothes smelling like weed

Breath stinks

But they’re still claiming to be fresh and clean

I see more crack heads

And nappy headed

Little girls

Walking and talking like they’re grown

Thinking this is how life is supposed to be

Full of poverty and despair

Living with out a care for health care

Rotten teeth and feet

No jobs just robs for something to eat

Crack heads cherishing the pipe like it’s a dream

Nappy heads loosing their virginity and having kids before they turn thirteen

I see myself getting out of the projects

And looking at other aspects of life

Like

Getting an education and being put in a situation where my surroundings are actually beneficial to me

And providing myself with wealth to be a successful human beings

I know life is supposed to be an obstacle course

Of course

There will be trials and tribulations in result of my neighborhood and the area where I was born and bread

In my neighborhood I see

Drugs gangs, and dysfunctional families

And realize that this neighborhood is no longer for me
