An experiment with shape. The shape of this poem was designed to be an hourglass - depicting the passage of time. The title 'reflections' is also represented in the poem's format. The lower half of the poem is almost a mirror image of the upper half. There is a lot of symbolism in this particular poem. It is not what it may appear to be on first reading.

Reflections

I lie listlessly upon my bed, the crisp night air caressing my skin
My eyes staring at the glass forming prism stars from lights
Silent night yet so filled with sound it is deafening
I am ever conscious of my beating heart
This heart has loved and lost
It continues to beat
Pain continues
Alive yet. . .
Dead!
Yet alive. . .
Pain continues
It continues to beat
This heart that knew to love
An ache inside that will not be quelled
Memories swirl in the misty haze of my thoughts
Sequences of a time gone past, captured forever in my mind
I languor in my melancholy and tears flow, saturating my pillow

I’m amazed how you reflect both in words and patterns.

It brings to mind a wave – receding from the shore only to return in full force. Your creativity is limitless.

It never ceases to amaze me that whatever you attempt comes up like an artisan's best yet. Just lovely and risqué too, Chanti. Mmmwhah to you for this. Love.

Whoever you are, Chanti, you are a fine poet!
Interesting shape and metaphors.
Your visible eye is very much like one of
another talented female poet on The Den...forgive
me...but an artist-photographer is always "seeing
things" beyond the obvious, as you know.

I enjoyed this piece much.

You say the poem is the shape of an hourglass, to me the shape and the meaning of the words are like a reflection just like the beautiful picture above. Wonderfully penned and presented.

"Reflections (heartbreak)" is what could be called a modern a palindrome poem... An image of itself - as the word means.

You have done it to perfection of contents, form and message; and have supported its definition with the picture.

I salute You, Sublime Poet!
