This might upset sensitive people.
This sort of thing happens all the
time and this is, as is most of my
poetry based on fact.
I hope that in writing about
it, I will raise awareness to the
plight of innocent victims. I have
deliberately chosen a kind of sing-
song rhyme scheme. Please let me know
how this impacted upon you.
Thanks

NO ESCAPE...

Lipstick smeared across the wall

Bloodied footprints down the hall

The room thrown into disarray

When he's here there's hell to pay

Mommy is lying on the floor

I can't reach up to unlock the door

She was crying but now she's silent

I dunno why he gets so violent

I hid away while he went crazy

He hit her cos he said she's lazy

I smell the smoke it's burning my eyes

Nobody can hear my frightened cries

I'm so scared my tummy's churning

I CAN'T BREATHE,

...now I'm burning

Is this how I'm gonna die?

Oh daddy daddy,

 why…WHY?

I love the way you accentuated “I CAN’T BREATHE” and “WHY.” I found
myself holding my breath in response and shouting from within – “WHY.”

A story that needed to be told and done so masterfully! Thank you for caring. Some sit in limbo afraid to move…our screams live within.

Hugs, Susan

Once again you manage to starkly expose a madness that is an integral part of the world and time dimension we exist in. This is so compelling that it wrenches the soul, Chanti. Much love to you dearest friend.

This is a very well done poem in it's rawness. I was a victim of spouse abuse. I finally had the sense to get out with my children. There are so many of us.

WOW, you put me back in my childhood home. It took years to realize I wasn't the reason for all the "pain." This was to real!

My dear Chanti,

You have executed this piece in the best possible way. It stuns the reader, as well it should. As you know, because of the work I do, I share this too-common tradgedy with you. Thank you for speaking out for those who are unable to do so for themselves. I'll continue to pray with you for these women. Very well written, good work! Thank you!

Much love,
Tami

Chanti...this is yet another example of your profound
understanding of human nature...and your exceptionally deep
poetic talent. This wonderfully written set of verses has
the impact of a speeding car ramming a cement building. I
could 'feel' the angst, the fear, the knowledge of impending
demise. Beautiful, Chanti...agonizingly, truthfully beautiful.

Thank you for being so brave and courageous to raise this sickening and satanic phenomenon in our society ....

There s absolutely no excuse for a man hitting a woman or child..none...its not a man at all..it is a sick and depraved beast masquerading as a man...

Chanti, beautifully written poem on a very painful topic!
An eloquent write that goes like an arrow straight to the heart!
I just wrote something about abuse too. There's is much to much
of it giving such bad examples to our children today. How can
they have any respect?

Chanti, this is another exceptionally well-penned, soul-gripping composition created by your golden quill and compassionate soul, my friend. This unfortunate occurrence, which we know is still prevalent in today’s society, not only against the initial victim, but also, it has a terrible rippling effect against others near by. Although they are not being physically pummeled, the scars left in its wake are just as traumatic. I wish any abuser would seek out the professional help they need, before they lash out. One would also hope at the very least, any would be victim would seek some sort of protective help against the abuser before they are ever abused by anyone! We know the long-term effects this heinous crime causes, and this vicious cycle of violence must STOP once and for all! Thank you for handling this deplorable subject with class and style, my friend. May the gentle winds of the Creator’s grace, comfort and guide you and yours safely throughout your journey through time and space. Take care and be well.

Dear Chanti,You articulate with all your usual sensitivity this awful dilemma a young child should never be in. There can never be an accuse for such brutality to her mum or to any woman. This behaviour must be stamped out once and for all.
Your friend,
Reg.
