Again, this poem is a break from my usual style but the expression is meaningful. I hope that this inspires others to stray from the beaten track.

My life hasn't been one of comfort and ease I've stubbed my toes and scraped my knees My eyes have seen more than they should've seen Many would be shocked at the places I've been I've scaled high mountains and crossed the sea In the pursuit of danger I thought I was free Later in life the risks became less I knew that my choices led to my stress I learnt about balance and it all made sense It isn't a good thing to sit on the fence To watch in envy as LIFE passes you by to moan and complain, to grumble and sigh Why throw away your paddles and stay adrift when life is so good and each day's a gift? Yes, it's not easy to take a new road Maybe help another with their heavy load. but if you face ALL with enthusiasm and zest At least in the end you'll know you gave it your best  ~Chanti~

When we were children my brother Rupert and I loved to explore and discover new things.  We especially loved walking through the tall grasses in the fields, so tall that at times it was impossible to see where we had come from or where we were going to. 

How much of an adventure is it if you know what the outcome is? 

In many of these explorations, we discovered wondrous new things.  Had we stuck to the beaten path, much less would have been discovered and fewer lessons had.  To this day I am inclined to step off the path and try a new route.  I have been lost more times than I can count but my adventures have allowed me to see things that I would not have otherwise seen. 

Are we sometimes so stuck in a rut that we are not prepared to try something new?  Does fear stop us from stepping off the path we've made for ourselves (comfort zone)?  Of course there are risks when taking a new road. You never know what danger lies in wait but you will also never know what might have been discovered if you didn't take the chance.
