In my poetry I have often painted parallels between the changing of the seasons or the movement from dawn to dusk to symbolise the passage of time. In this one I have used the progression of a day to do this but night is not where it ends. It is a passage to a new beginning. I hope you will see this through my words. The other symbols you might recognise are 'daisies' - for me always symbolic of youth, innocence and yearning, 'sun' depicting the heat (sometimes pleasant and sometimes not) and as always 'moon' which for me is a gentle symbol of hope. At times when we cannot see, there is light sufficient to see our next step alone and this is where we practice faith.
I dedicate this poem to a special person. I want her to know that even through the darkest of times, there is light.
You know who you are. This is for you with love...
Past... A child makes daisy chains, singing softly to the wind Light in dappled patterns illumes her freckled skin. Drops in liquid landscape. A playful shout - a splash. Laughter in the distance, bees fat with pollen stash. Buzzes, chirps and twittering, These sounds that fill my ears bringing back those memories that wet my cheeks with tears
Present... The searing of the sun that rises up at noon, brings a burning to my eyes for times over far too soon. But whenever I feel lost, or abandoned and alone I look into the skyscape - the limits of my earthly home. And I know there is no ceiling for as far as I can see the limit of my daydreams stretch to eternity
Future... As the evanescent day submits its splendour to the night And all that was before slips slowly out of sight The heavens are adorned with a gentler, kinder moon, and the incandescent stars play out a hopeful tune. Though this may be ending A new beginning is in sight Just as the flush of dawn Brings to an end the night
I was skipping along with your carefree words until the mood changed
then a wave of nostalgia embraced me days gone by...triggering a wee tear. What a wonderful journey drifting
through time in the space of a day. Magnificent read something most experience...and for others...
Hugs, Susan

Seems to me to reflect on regret, happiness and hope ... in differing stages. A startling use of words and choice of phrases. However, you final phrases lead me to believe that there is still something nagging away at your psyche. A certain self-doubt that you hope to one day come to terms with.
mmm...extremely good symbolism here...both mythical and mystical. Your blending of end rhymes and internal rhymes and rhythms makes this a pleasant piece to read and to recite. Now that I have found a way back into the den, I see I will have to read more of you.
Exceptional presentation, Chanti, and careful, thoughtful, well-crafted writing.

Chanti, the long journey begins with the first step, and alone if necessary. Sometimes in order for one to find their way back into the light, it is often essential for the one to take it alone to rediscover the way. I tend to agree with the many other gifted Poets who have graciously left their exceptional remarks about your poetic talent and compassionate soul. It is a pure pleasure to read your timeless creations. It is a wonderful dedication and I am sure your friend will appreciate it. Thank you for sharing your work my gifted friend. Take care and be well.

What a deliciously enchanting and extremely well-conceived poem! Regardless of one's decision, they would be treated to a delightful time, whether it be the "Past," "Present," or "Future!" Superb!!
I have often told you that you have an amazing ability of expressing yourself in such an incredible way. There is so much depth and beauty in this poetry, tears sting the eyes, as one reads this. Inevitable as it is, life progresses, and we grow older and wiser (sometimes lol) It's wonderful to reminisce, but there is also a kind of tranquility in our present, and one should never forget there is so much to be grateful for. The poem as a whole is fantastic, but I will admit that four lines of the last stanza really touched my heart:
The heavens are adorned
with a gentler, kinder moon,
and the incandescent stars
play out a hopeful tune. < <-- If we listen closely enough, I know that we can hear it. Thanks for sharing super write Chants.
I am breathless after reading this beautiful page, from the
first word to the last, superscription included!
Besides putting it in my library, I am going to print out the
poem on photo paper, mat and frame it, and keep it over my desk
to remind me of all the things God should be thanked for on a daily
basis...including wonderfully gifted poets such as you, Chanti.
You seem to be able to coax the sunrays into even the darkest corner

I don't usually respond on my own board unless I want to point out an important aspect of my work that might have been missed. Paul was able to pick up on an important aspect of this poem. The daisy chain, like a ring is perpetual and infinite. Life consists of cycles - birth, life, death and rebirth (and I'm not talking about reincarnation). Each link important.
