This poem was written by a talented friend who has suffered writer's block for many years and hasn't produced a single bit of writing in all that time. This was his first poem and I'd like to encourage him. Please supply feedback and I'll pass it on to him. Thanks

EASTER SATURDAY

This futility - death.

This rotten log of corrupt lice ridden

Blackness

The core, the hollow log, around and without

Colours of butterfly or bluetit

Or fountain, willow

Appear each new light year.

These, to our death laden lives

These are the colours, the scents

The gentle fluttering sounds

The brook midst stillness,

Above all the light,

The hope of the day

These bespeak life lives,

Shall live,

Is, Is victorious for ever.

In the mangled eclipse,

The knotted, whipped back

(Wherewith we are healed)

In the death - the end - the despair

Of heart

That we call Good Friday

We know not forgiveness,

Only, as yet know we, we shall pay

In the corruption of our rotten flesh

The blackness

The core, the hollow log,

This rotten log of corruption worm ridden

That dry bones survive - outlast at least

Nay, there remains the command -

Rest in futility - the beloved is dead

Ye cannot keep the law, yet keep it.

Ah yet it has been said

'Son of Man, shall these bones live?'

'So foolish and slow of heart to believe'

"Teacher!"

Yes, I have called your name, have I not?

The sun has risen gold and copper and fire

'His feet like burnished bronze'

'....What seemed like molten metal....'

'Amidst the awesome crystal'

Yes, children, the day is here

The teacher has brought us light,

The blood we drink, the life of the living

Thus we stretch, we dance,  we breathe

We sing, we glow, we gleam,

For out of the earth, the tree of life

Invisible as the beloved

Brings the scent of lilies of the valley,

The song of the river and of birds

The gentle breath -

I live only because we have died

'And breath entered me and I stood'.

I've been there a time or two with writer's block or some kind of block. But it never fails, some word, some sound, or smell will lure me back to the written page. My wish for your friend is to write from the soul and it may start from a whisper.

Exceptional poem on this very spiritual topic! It reaches deeply into the thoughts of being one with Him, in him with him through him in the unity of the spirit. It seems the block has been obliterated! Bravo!

A very deep and well written poem. Is your friend frustrated by writer's block, or is he ok with it? His answer makes all of the difference. After forty years of doing commissioned paintings, I quit. I've never been happier. I write and do other things. I agree with Regis. No one can force one to write.

This makes one think. I understand "writer's block." No one can "force" one to write. One cannot even "force" oneself in my opinion. Inspiration has to come from within or from wherever but I believe there must be inspiration and it cannot be compelled. Anyway, my best wishes to Chris. Thank you for sharing this, Chanti. Love to you. Regis
