Dedicated to someone experiencing the intense pain of loss. I've been there. My heart goes out to you.

Poem Artwork

Nothing is lost that's wrought with tears:
The music that you make below
Is now the music of the spheres.

-John Davidson, A Ballad of Heaven

I weep in my sleep
When tears cannot be held
and emotion
flows freely from
my heaving heart.
The pillow damp
with pain poured out.
Hurt locked away
within an inner prison
Kept hidden within the folds
of my multifarious nature
But,
in the night hours,
the sandman
pays the bail,
unlocks the jail
and sets these feelings free.
Until I wake and take
them captive,
lock up
then throw away the key...

At first I thought I was reading an ordinary poem, but the second half knocked it into a higher category, not because of the rhyme but because of the analogy and imagery. Great job, Chanti!!! You shine. ~~Nordette

Who does not know the feeling? You express
very well the way we tend to sit on our
emotions -- fear them!! It would be wonderful
to think that the sandman is able to help
every mourner open up, if only in sleep.
Thank you for your sensitive and deeply
wise. . .want to call it a prayer. Heart to
heart, soul to soul, Phyllis

I have gone through something like this in very much the same way. My bedroom pillow practically became a sponge. My heart goes out to you and the person to whom you wrote.

A most beautiful soul-sharing for someone who undoubtedly
is in much pain emotionally. Your kindness touches so many,
dear Chanti.
I will miss Silke's poems as well.

Judy & Janet, thanks for pointing out the font colour. I've darkened it to make it easier to read. I hope this works. I wanted to use grey (gray) to compliment the content of the poem but it was too light. Thanks again.
Love Chanti

You are welcome Steven. I dedicated this poem to you after reading your article about Silke your beloved wife. No words can offer you the comfort you need but it is good to know that people care.

NOTE: Silke, Steven's 'soul wife' has been declared brain dead. Her loss is shared by many on the den who came to know and care for her.

You sure have great empathy, with someones private hell.
Sounds like you're this sandman, paying the bail, releasing your friend from gaol. Helping them back to heavenly freedom.

I never have understood this sandman thing?

I am like Janet and I understood what you wrote and find that it is indeed written from pain. My eyes are bad too.

This is very well written and is pulsating with pain. I like the idea of the light type, but my eyes are so bad I can hardly read it.

A very powerful and compassionate write, Chanti. To understand another's grief and through your own past experience, be able to validate their feelings and help them through it all, shows your compassionate heart and your lack of selfishness. Beautiful poetry!
Take care,
Sherry
