More memorable moments with Ed...

Poem Artwork

The night before the hot air balloon ride
I barely slept
Excitement rippled through my being
I woke every hour on the hour
and mentally urged the clock forward
with child-like impatience
Finally, before the dawn
I emerged from my bed
Rumpled and sleepy-eyed
Flushed pink with excitement
and dressed in haste
I applied makeup to my face
then tiptoed quietly from the house
and drove upon a surge of adrenalin,
breathless with anticipation.

-2-
Excitement has blurred
many of the details
but I remember in vivid slides
the sights, the sounds, the scents
of that day's events.
You held my hand tightly
as the basket lifted from the ground
beneath an enormous arc of fire-warmed air
wrapped in a kaleidoscope of colour.
We floated quietly upwards
The balloon as graceful as a cloud
adrift in air, still as prayer
The world is a different place
when viewed from there

-3-
You wore your Ranger Rick jacket
The one with forty two pockets
and countless lost objects ;)
You spent much of your time
patting your chest in search
of one thing or another
and I in laughter
(another memory I'd love to share)
The fire of the burner seared your head
I wore a big hat and those silly green glasses
and was conscious of nothing
but the proximity of your body
the touch of your hand
that promised kiss

-4-
We sailed upon wind currents
shadows trailed the verdant earth
Our faces lit with wonder
Soul imprints like photographs
in a moving collage.
Inspired by the beauty
surrounding us
and far below
A different view
- a new perspective
We could only know
once we were there

Chanti, you have written another masterpiece. The love and anticipation of being with the one you love, is so heart warming, that I cannot relate, tho I wish I could. Happiness for me, is to be happy for others, whose life takes a postive and promising turn. Kissing in a mine shaft, and then in a hot air balloon? That is as positive and romantic as it gets I guess, because each time was a rendevous with destiny. Isn't love just grand? That's what I heard anyway...Good luck to you and Edwin on your journey of love and romance, forever. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and thoes whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, stubborn to a fault, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your still very sad and terrified little sister, Barbie

Hot Air Balloons are amazing magic!! They are all the rage here in New Mexico where we host the International Balloon Fiesta every year...the largest gathering of balloons in the world. I love them and I am blessed to see them in the air here on any day with accomodating weather, but during Fiesta, there are between 750 to 1000 balloons in the sky here in this little town every morning in mass ascension...What a thrill. Your poem is beautiful, Chanti and it does the balloons justice. There is nothing in the world like being up there looking down here!!
Take care,
Sherry

I don't think you need any suggestions. This is virtually perfect as is... and the ripples of the air currents were in time with our heartbeats and were the pulsing synchronous blood coursing through our veins... we merged closer with ev'ry touch, as all of time stood still; as if at long last, an unfulfilled prophecy had come to its ultimate and destined realization; and even the angels in heaven were in awe of the perfect love and the unbreakable bond that we both shared, in this brief yet infinite and unforgettable moment of eternity. -- Jeff
