This was written in response to a Creative Exercise posted to my site, Lasting Impressions.

Wind Song

I closed my eyes wearily
and listened
to the howl of the wind
as it lashed the land,
snaking around bends
with ferocious intent
A wild beast it seemed
- ferile and untamed.
Wreaking such destruction
until its fury was spent
And then it was still...
Occasionally
taking shallow breaths
that whistled through leaves
in a tune of defeat...

You've captured the taciturn moodiness of the elements wonderfully, Chanti, and I like the form you have chosen to ground your description. I also like the animal-like qualities you develop, suggesting the behaviour is just "the nature of the beast", defeated rather than tamed. Excellent, thank you. Kate xx

You have done an excellent job here painting one of the aspects of the wind and its many faces. The flow and internal rhythm in this is very good...the imagery you employ is splendid. Well done, Chanti.

Chanti, what a gifted poet you are!

As winds come whispering lightly from the West, Kissing, not ruffling, the blue deep's serene.

A poem as powerful as that wind, Chanti.

Expressive indeed Chanti, almost erotic in a sense like a lover striving to please his mate then laying spent and weak afterwards. That is what this poem felt like to me so strong was it's capture of the stength of nature. Good to see you writing on here again old friend.

I have done exactly this, Chanti. I used to just sit there and listen to all of the sounds of Mother Nature, that came through the wind as it whistled and howled. Great imagery, and thnx for sharing sis. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love inmy heart, joy tot he world, peace on earth, & (((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Excellent imagery in this, Chanti, and the transition from howling beast to gentle wind is smooth. Good work, my friend.

This is, simply stated, a fantastic write, Chanti. Your images so strong that I could hear the wind and see it charging through all that was in its path. Exceptionally well written.
Take care,
Sherry

Chanti this is superb expression and capture of how the wind
can act, almost like a living beast! Excellent description and
visuals!
