Taste the dew on leaves with your tongue Savor the lushness of grass beneath your feet Inhale the redolence of fresh morning air Touch the textures with tender fingers
Time to forget when your body failed and your emotions were dragged under that heavy mantle of darkness When only your mind escaped hell And you turned cartwheels on the lawn
Time to move forward with face turned to the wind To hear the music in the trees To feel the warmth of sun upon your skin And leave behind those nagging doubts The residue of a battered self-esteem It's time... The texture of life is found deep within
Life - existence inside the realm of space and time, the enigma few understand and most remain clueless to in spite of the fact it contains us all and it bestowed to all of us. Presenting easily accessible, forcing upon the living matters they can do without and denying them the things they really need, has had it effect. There are two ways out of this concealed enprisonment, one of which is what your poem refers to. But like in any circumstance, knowing what processes are about helps. It seems to be the case when you wrote this. Thank you for creating and sharing. Take care,
I agree with *Pea* and *She*. I also agree that the texture of life is definitely found within us all. It's just there are those that are too blind to see it, and stop at the texture of the body, and not of the soul. Thanx for sharing, Chanti.

Can so relate, Chanti. A most beautiful clarion call to the trapped inner being and tender, natural liberationist write. Very alive to the senses that coax the spirit to explore freedom in the safest of environments - commitment to mother nature. Refinding the child within and letting her be nurtured. And it's never too late... even for us pensioners!! :)) Jenny Joseph would applaud this poem... and so do I! Standing on me head with me corset and truss showing!! :))
"When only your mind escaped the hell
And you turned cartwheels on the lawn"....I know this has a lot of meaning for both of us Snuggles...We have witnessed the truest most real and tangible miracle of life...I'm glad you could make it for me and the big show :) I love you

Ah, yes, indeed, the textures of life are what make up who we are at any given time, the textures of life do not only petain to our aging skin.
This is a poignant belief in perfection and the striving for it.
It is imperative that we keep pressing forward in faith and hopefulness for a brighter tomorrow. Sadly though, one of the component and enduring textures in life, is suffering.
I was reminded of "Siddhartha" and "Narcissus and Goldman" by Herman Hesse, as I savored this philosophical exhortation.

This is so true Chanti. Life is so full of textures, isn't it? Like our skin for instance. We start out with smooth, soft, unblemished skin and look at all the changes it goes through in the next 25 years. Amazing! Some things we can change, some we can't. The scars within our souls can be healed but never erased. With our skin we can get a facelift, sadly though, there is no lift for a bruised and battered soul. It is so refreshing when we leave our past behind, and look towards our future. We have described this so beautifully!
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
