For me, the miracle is I am finally free to be me.

"Within, the child tried to be seen

I saw the sunshine in her eyes

She longed to play again

in wide-open places,

dance in the rain

And thread yellow daisies

through her long tangled hair."

(an excerpt from the first poem I posted on the den, 'Held on a Tight Rein)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There's a wildness in her eyes
an untameable child
The calm on the surface
belies
She's a child of nature
at home in the woods
searching for sprites
"always up to no good"
Once trapped in an existence
that bound her in chains
The rebel inside
remained
Now she's free to enjoy
those wide open spaces
Her hair flows free
with the wind she races
She found a new life
when love broke the yoke
Unfettered, unshackled
from bad dreams
she awoke...
Reading back on all your reviews received for " A Wild Child", are poems unconsciously expressed in themselves,with words that compel us to consciously then free ourselves! When I see this...it can only mean, YOU have succeeded in a purpose here and I have to thank you in return!
Inspiring...and
So well done Chanti!
Some children have that rebel in them that wants to be free of authority and the do's and don'ts of life fostered on them. But there are checks and balances that the mature must, once freedom is gained, be used wisely.
Chanti,
I love the unchained feeling that reading your poem gives me. A world unlocked and unrestrained.
There's a wildness in her eyes
an untameable child
I could comfortably suplant the pronoun her for him in this thought provoking piece. My wilderness as a child was external,not seen but sensed. I felt enveloped within a climate that lacked tender emotions. In other words, this shortfall was my wilderness. Behind my eyes lay a very fertile, colourful jungle similar to yours, consisting of imagery and escapism in art - and music. For me the outside was untameable but I could run wild happily inside. I escaped to this realm when it got too dark and oppressive outside. Love rescued me too but by then I had become somewhat emotionally illiterate and had to learn to identify love.
I hope I have interpreted you poem right. I am glad that love came along and shattered your yoke and set you free to be the woman of integrity that you are. Thanks for sharing this poem.
She found a new life
when love broke the yoke
Unfettered, unshackled
from a bad dream
she awoke...
Love can burn to destruction but love can mend and heal... like the wind that melts the pots yet hardens clay. This is how metamorphosis SHOULD be, Chanti. The pupa locked into a crysalis doesn't just "not grow", but becomes, in fact, a load of soggy "goo" until it transmutates into the gossamer butterfly which it is intended to become... Sadly, some of us remain that goo-ey mash for the rest of our lives.... And sorry... I have been heavy-handed and "messy" with this review, whereas the poem has outstanding beauty and elegance attached to it. Your fleet feet here are light and cause flowers to spring up wherever their hallowed footsteps fall, Angel Child.... LOL K xx
It always feels good when we cut loose and let ourselves just be ourselves, to act like nobody is watching us and simply be free. No matter how old we get, we all need to have our own space and we all need to address the child inside. Nice work, Chanti.
Take care,
Sherry
