“We need, in love, to practice only this: letting each other go. For holding on comes easily; we do not need to learn it.”
― Rainer Maria Rilke

A FIRST DRAFT - SPOKEN WORD

I questioned so many times

what happened and why

Then time went by...

Now I look back with

an altered vision

and vastly different views

I don't need to paint the past

with whitewash

to cover that I was bruised.

It was so good when it was good

and so dark and dreadful in the end

In those final moments

death fought with hope

and hope was so damaged

it felt like it could never mend.

I remember the feelings

of rank rejection

and gaping emptiness

The tears, the wretched moans

an aching body wracked with pain

The overwhelming feeling

you get when you know

You just get it...

...you're alone.

The letting go was hard

when my hands

had tightened into fists

I'd gripped so hard onto an illusion

that evaporated like mist.

And when the air yawned

and the battlefield cleared

The blood-stained earth

relinquished everything

I'd feared

and then...

The moment arrived,

-the tipping point-

When I wondered

if it was worth it

And it was

Because, in the end

it always is...

And there is no loss

God's plan for us often involves tears. Having faith and letting go are two very difficult lessons to learn. But you have. Your writing says you have. Emotional, painful and a glimpse of the glowing sun as it peeps above the horizon. Wonderful!

A very emotionally scripted with vivid verbal imagery. A stirring piece with portions relating to many loss situations. I enjoyed experiencing this poem.

Stay well and keep writing

Your verses give me much to reflect upon Chanti; and they also awaken my emotions because I can relate to what your express through them. Thank you for sharing. Love and best wishes to you,

Beside Still Waters by Jill Eisnaugle

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.

Kind A SLOw In The Kootenays v2.2 by RickthePoetWarrior

Has-beens and coffee get together to recreate a same old new tourist trap in a land even the First Nations don't want.
