Paradise Lost


Once upon a mountain top,
in a far way land of long ago,
snow capped peaks never stop,
and raging rivers began to flow.

Trees of green ever so serene,
standing above the wild flowers,
beauty of a land so pristine,
then along came man to devour.

Peace and harmony ruled the land,
as nature intended it all to be,
without man’s head in the sand
for in his intellect he can not see.

Sadly, trying to fix, we destroy,
never realizing natures awful plight,
for it’s delicate balance is not a toy,
what is left is a terrible sight.

Learning in the darkness of greed,
recognizing the loss, shed a tear,
once pristine is now just weeds,
forlorn, too little, too late, I fear.
