Moments of splendor now all but gone,
fading to ghostly shadows in the night,
lingering memories left with the dawn,
times and places withering from sight.
Never realizing nothing will ever last,
traveling clueless down life’s course,
today like yesterday soon to will pass,
left with memories and one’s remorse.
On life’s journey to who knows where,
entering unchartered territory we flow,
over, under, then suddenly we’re there,
wise with wisdom yet so little we know.
Unable to set what’s real or make believe,
our lives are lead in fantasy and illusion,
experience determines what we conceive,
creating a blending pot of utter confusion.
Shadows within the corridors of our mind,
thoughts transform with wants and desires,
reality lost, often suspended in passing time,
as we struggle to survive life’s raging fires.

This is a superb poem Sam, and those lines are especially beautiful & truth spoken at it's finest
