Conflicts of Freedom

Ideally we in America strive for harmony and peace on earth,
for in our God given Spirit the value of our freedom is pretentious,
it is our heritage, expected, given, and demanded from birth,
but unfortunately the truth be told, preserving it is at best contentious.

Life for us was once a shimmering ray of sunshine all a glow,
held passionately within the deepen depths of our innocent souls,
but it impetuously ceased in the reality of the 911 bloody flow,
now missiles explode upon a faraway land lighting the sky taking it’s toll.

Sadly it is our youth whom we dispatch into the wrath of hostility,
to fight for our heightened ideals, those principles we hold so dear,
a sadden affair with deadly consequences sanction by righteous nobility,
right or wrong, it’s killing and maiming that leaves the parental fear.

Exploding turbulence bringing death and destruction upon the night,
as tears and bellows rebound the anguishing despair of pain and sorrow,
each word spoken, each breathe taken transcends the ultimate fright, grasping inter strength to bare the burden, to face the unexpected tomorrow.

Somberly bestowed upon history educated minds evolve without resolution,
sacrificing endless lives for humanity weighs upon our immortal being,
yet, still advancing oppression leads to war as the transcendent solution,
challenging the fragile realm of freedom, hopefully preventing it from fleeing.
