As a change of pace from my usual offerings, here is something a little different, a kind of guessing game in the form of a poem. Living in the Middle East, I saw today an advertisement on the side of a truck for an interesting product that I couldn't resist writing a poem about. Enjoy.
WHAT IS IT
by John Herlihy
Known for its richness,
Bound to cause fitness,
Known for its creaminess,
Bound to cause dreaminess,
Known for its fullness,
Bound to cause softness,
Known for its premium quality,
Bound to guarantee frivolity.
Dates and cardamom acting like a brother,
Saffron and caramel to give good color,
With sauces and nuts for an Arab scholar,
And sporting a price little more than a dollar,
A one-liter tub cost just short of 70 dinar,
A fabulous treat suitable for a Russian tsar.
Three times the vitamin C than comparable products,
No doubt giving sufficient cause to generate higher profits.
With less fat per 100 grams than the average cow,
This product is bound to inspire the most discerning brow.
Living in the Middle East has its compensations,
One of them being this glorious dispensation.
What is it? None other than
A taste treat fit for a devoted fan,
Sufficient to last a lifetime span.
Camel milk ice cream. . . !
The stuff that dreams are made of.
Sounds yummy. But that bit about fitness for any sugary or very product for anyone over 18 just isn't true unless one works a hard life burning off all those calories.
I assume that the milk is either goat or camel's milk. Much better than cow's milk.
Contraband Marriage, traveling along the hemline of loving after incarceration, is a love story written in lyric and free form, set in reality with a different ever after.
I assume that the milk is either goat or camel's milk. Much better than cow's milk.
