DEATH
By John Herlihy

Death?
Do not ask.
Tucks you in the blanket of the ground,
Into the past safe and sound.

Death?
Where do we go from here?
The trembling hands of age,
Give us over to a sage.

Death?
Is there no hope?
I am just a simple man,
Hanging by a threadbare rope.

Death?
Can we foretell?
The angel tolls no knell,
Only the mournful sound of a lone bell.

Death?
Should I ask when?
The dark phantom arrives quietly,
Like a panther ready to pounce.

Death?
Why you ask?
A bright angel puts you under the floor;
But she holds the key to the sun door.

Death?
Be not mysterious.
The body is wrapped in a shroud;
The soul lives beyond the clouds.

Death?
Be not proud.
An angel takes us by the hand,
And draws the soul into neverland.

Death?
Does it knock on our door?
One minute we are awake to the world;
The next we are into eternity hurled.

Death?
Is this the end?
We have lived complete lives;
Now gone and no one survives.

Death?
It doesn’t lie.
We think this is the end;
But in truth we don’t die.

Whether it be reincarnation or our souls leave our bodies
and go to another dimension we won't know until that time.
Living on this Earth is a short time and I believe we are
all here to learn the aspects of love and then go to our
next journey...Enjoyed, John.

Always,
Deborah

You've raised a lot of questions and then came to a conclusion that so many people seem to like.

I don't spend a lot of time worrying about death. I've been close couple of times during surgery. It wasn't particularly disturbing or even enlightening like some have claimed. To me, death is like going to sleep, sleeping well, and never waking up.

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if everybody just accepted that and that all these questions, never answered, would stop, giving us a lot more time to focus on more positive things like solving our problems in this life.

Nope, we don't truly die. We live again, not to the Heaven so many believe, but we do come back.
