Bravery is a noble sentiment,
But it fills me with presentiment.
How I wish I could be brave,
Myself and the whole world to save.
Here I am just sitting idly on a street curb,
Reading a frivolous sms and other trivial blurbs.
What must I do to call myself brave,
To march boldly forth like a reckless knave.
What kind of heart does not dare to be brave,
To take a stand for the sake of a principle to serve?
What kind of soul does not reach out to preserve,
A timid and fearful person who has no nerve.
What is this fear that keeps us from acting,
From pursuing an action for the greater good?
What is this fear that holds us back everlasting,
To hide our true nature as though wearing a hood?
What is this fear that prevents us from enacting,
Acts of courage showing the best of what we could?
There is bravery in trust as we give away our breast,
To put one’s heart in another’s hands as if for safe-keeping.
There is bravery in compassion for the weak and oppressed,
Touched by growing desire to comfort those who are weeping.
There is bravery in fighting injustice both serious and grave,
Meeting wrong with right with the fury of a sweeping wave.
Bravery is there for the asking; it is ready to act.
We need to summon it as a bold and hidden fact.
It lies within us as wild beast and virtuous demi-god,
Ready to pounce like an angel with golden feet shod.
Bravery is within us cast from our personal mould;
It shines with a light that is beautiful to behold.
I am so glad you answered all your questions...and so on the money!
Bravery does come in many forms. There is more bravery in lending a helping hand, giving a consoling lift, or speaking out against an injustice than in reciting rote prayers, or singing a hymn, or in waving the flag a thousand times.
Bravery is sparse,
Cowardliness is a farce,
We do what is necessary,
When the circumstance demands,
Bravery can be grand,
But I'd rather be alive & bland...-e-
A philosophical view of bravery that is quite thorough and thoughtful.
I am sick and tired of victims being declared brave, and those with considerable backing leading charges against paper walls being declared brave by publicity.
Strangely, I've heard people call me, "brave," a number of times only for doing the right thing that just came naturally. If everyone did the right thing, maybe everyone would be brave.
As is well known, the brave men love to put their will into effect to be called ‘brave men’; another thing is to have guts not to put one’s will into effect. The brave man is one who not only wins, but excels in winning at high yields, at minimal cost when one’s strength of only four ounces deflects a thousand pounds of the opponent’s efforts. Hence, the truly brave man’s victory brings him neither reputation for wisdom nor a credit for extraordinary bravery. That’s the secret of survival the ancients teach us to resort to. Cheers, alex
Each of us has a measure of bravery within us sitting alongside our measure of cowardliness I feel. It is according to the situation which one is called into play.

Perhaps "..Quiet Storm" will help rekindle old flames buried and long forgotten or express the love so deeply locked inside of your soul longing to be released.
