You may capture mystery; but its secret will not be revealed.
Mystery’s integrity holds back to remain fully concealed.
Mystery highlights questions that lie perennially hidden,
Questions that come to us by themselves totally unbidden.
Mystery lies hidden under every stone and blade of grass,
Lifting the edge of mystery expresses a wish to trespass.
The mystery has an answer carefully wrapped in a riddle,
Just as music is secretly contained in a dusty old fiddle.
We stand bravely before the mysteries of life and death;
We gaze hopefully forward and for dear life hold our breath.

God stands before us guiding, providing, not explaining;
Our hearts have inspired us to forget our complaining.
At the heart of nature’s mystery lies God’s revelation,
Lifting us beyond the horizon of our earthly station.
Nature stirs our hearts with desires suddenly being awoken;
But mystery has a door that will never be fully opened.
Drink in nature’s miracle blooming in flowers and budding stars,
Away to the gates of Heaven that protects God’s wondrous laws.
Betray earth’s mystery and you will become an unhappy clod;
Show me a mystery and in return, I will remember God.
I used to think that I had things pretty well "figured out." The older I get, the more I realize that I really know nothing at all. It is mostly all "a mystery." Love and peace to you, John.
The mystery of our world is being revealed one onion peel at a time. Actually, it's quite a heady time to be alive because we are learning so much about our universe and about our earth, helping us protect it from our fellow world citizens. I can only imagine what knowledge we would have created had not religion fought empirical knowledge every step of the way.
Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
I love your writing!
