The moon pulls the ocean,
Like a strongman, away from shore.
The water recedes reluctantly,
Wishing further to explore.
Left behind, nothing more,
But pebbles, sea-glass, shells,
All polished and ready to shine.
In the receding waters, they knock,
Their echoes muffled by brine.
The moon pulls the ocean back to shore
Pebbles, sea-glass, shells awash in the roar
Their glitter gone, left behind, nothing more.
An inspiring set of images reminding us how cyclic nature chooses to be. The ocean and its shores remains my most cherished place to visit as often as possible, seeking out yet more photos to add to my collection of 55 years. Thank you for posting.
yes, we come in this world naked, and we leave it with nothing in hand. . . still, the difference is in the fact that a newborn baby holds fists while a dead man's hands are opened, . . like your tides. nice imagery, John. Cheers, alex
Being very influenced by the moon, my psyche is one with the ocean and my thoughts become the seaglass, pebbles, and shells. So beautifully rendered! Thank you!!
Wonderfully expressive writing, John. I wear a "mojo" around my neck composed of "sea-glass, shells," and other wonderful thoughts composed with love. A short poem, but very meaningful.
