There are flowers everywhere.
Where have they all come from?
Cascades of them, like a waterfall falling,
Petals of velvet colors simply enthralling.
The multitudinous blooms of verbena,
The tears of Isis adorn the city of Sienna.
The blue-violet blush of enthralling myrtle
Sends forth waves of scent both lush and fertile.
Let us never forget the glorious bloom, magnolia,
Pure white blossoms with the fragrance of sweet flora.
Wisteria vines drape themselves in purple robes,
To bedeck the walls of the church belfry in droves.
Bougainvilleas ornament the fences in southern climes;
Spiky thorns hide patiently, waiting to commit crimes.
Everywhere hang arcades and pergolas trailing flower,
Wreaths of adornment bursting like a summer shower.
Garlands of flowers festoon the hallways and corridors,
Spilling out into the wedding party in the garden outdoors.
The blossoms awaking the world to their exquisite beauty,
Wrapping themselves in such attire for their unique duty.
These mystical beauties just continue to bloom and bloom,
Awakening to sparkle of sunlight in God’s enchanting loom.
I hear the petals of tulips bending in the wind;
As though shy and timid, feeling a little chagrined.
May the inspiring light of their beauty never be dimmed.
You certainly know your flowers and your poem shouts them beautifully.
Unfortunately I'm not fond of wisteria because it reminds me of a funeral and magnolia trees in this city are not beautiful and their sticky flowers and dead leaves litter the ground.
This made me feel as if I was in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon!!! Such a gift of love are flowers and such a floral feast for the eyes of those who long for loveliness. Thank you for the vision!
their inspiring light may be dimmed for one and only purpose of brightly flourishing again and on due time. A beautiful garland of fragrances and colours. Cheers, alex
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
