A Touch of Eternity
By John Herlihy

The music that composers write
Is for someone else to play.
Melodies that for centuries
Have moved hearts in their own way.
The music rises from deep within,
To soar beyond the waves of earthly din.
A note alone sends forth a hollow sound,
When multiplied, the melody echoes meaning profound,
Sheer beauty that stirs the heart’s emotions,
Touching the mind as well with their devotions.

The poems that I write
Are for someone else to recite.
Ideas that linger for a while,
Only to spark into something like a smile.
The poems arise from deep within,
Revealing secrets of virtuous glory and earthly sin.
A single word makes a lifeless sound,
When multiplied, rhythms and rhymes simply abound.
A touch of eternity brings light from darkened caves,
When spoken, they shine brightly upon endless waves.

A little something for everyone with this insight into the poet's muse.

Just as a great musical composition can move the soul, your fine composition of words does the same. Bravo!!!!

Love ya!

"The poems arise from deep within,
Revealing secrets of virtuous glory and earthly sin."

A word, forlorn, unto itself becomes a song when strung along with others. Your poem sparked a smile.

Sounds like a poem from the old sod and has pure rhyming.
