The Hallucination
By John Herlihy

I hear a voice,
Soft and tender,
That I do not see.

I hear a sound,
Distant and dismembered,
That sounds like a plea.

I hear a word,
Distinct and sheer,
That seems very clear.

I see an eye,
Clear blue as in the sea,
Might that be me?

I see a vision,
Dreamy and near,
That I hold dear.

If this be hallucination,
A misty maybe,
I will decipher its message,
Then set it free.

Hearing voices is certainly the first stage of going crazy. Once we start seeing things, we know we are there. How do I know? Experience. Just a couple of days ago I saw clearly, in color, the torso of a man with a beard that I had never seen, anywhere, before. And I've seen others, momentarily, in half sleep. I will really start to worry if they start talking to me. ;-)

there are some things you'd better tell no one. . . yes, that's how it works with hallucination thru 'if' and 'a misty maybe.' A misty poem because your keen eyes and your delicate ears are all involved at once. Cheers, alex

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
