The time has arrived to bid farewell;
The story draws to a close.
There is nothing left to tell;
Nothing further of value to propose.
We have made our farewells;
One to many, truth to tell.
Seemingly a hundred thousand times;
Never the same and none of them rhymes.
Everything seems to be closing down;
There are very few friends left around.
Now I find friends in unexpected places;
They appear, then disappear, leaving no traces.
I take no leave of solitude;
It is the one friend I still keep.
It awakens me in the morning.
And follows me around until I sleep.
My loneliness I have freely given away;
Being alone is a small price to pay.
If it forces a person to live with oneself,
Rather than inventing lies and living by stealth.
I have given up bodily pleasures,
Even if they desperately want to stay.
My mind and heart store secret treasures;
In my dotage, I refuse to give them away.
I convey a secret to the morning breeze;
On wings, it carries clear to the horizon,
Where my secret can quietly rest at ease,
All earthly cares of the world to shun.
Until that final farewell,
When I pass thru earth’s door,
Having already given everything up,
I wonder if there is anything more?
'I take no leave of solitude;
it is the one freind I still keep

WOW...SUCH A SAD WORK! NO HOPE BEYOND THE 'ADIEU'? NO LIGHT...JUST BOWING OUT WITH NO EAGERNESS, NO SEMBLANCE OF BELIEF IN PARTAKING OF THE PROMISED JOYS AHEAD? NO 'BRIGHTER DAYS' PEACE, NO KNOWLEDGE OF A BETTER, ETERNAL PLACE...JUST FAREWELL? BUT I SUPPOSE ALL STATE OF MINDS MUST BE ADDRESSED...FOR NOT ALL WILL SEE 'HIS' FACE AND IF THE ANTICIPATION, THE FAITH TO DO SO IS NOT THERE...IT WOULD LEAVE ONE DESPONDENTLY WONDERING...IS THERE ANYTHING MORE? WELL WRITTEN, JOHN...YOUR IMAGINATION...IT IS IMAGINATION IS IT NOT? ...IS FANTASTIC! THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
There is a unique solitude inherent in these words, offering a positive picture of a man with less and finding the mere grounding of the his loss-particulars provides for the "reader," a bearing out of the fallacy that the treasure trove of gifts one gathers in life with or without out the multicolored wrappings or the piece of material gain most presents and seemingly good will offers is more often than not a manipulation of you to satisfy someone's agenda. You've learned that such pleasures wain quickly from the mind of a poet. What you've given up is minor compared to what you've kept. Well done, John. Continue your carpe diem life.
"It is the one friend I still keep." Yes, solitude, the flatlands, and a place where dreams are welcome. There can never be a "farewell" between minds.

I convey a secret to the morning breeze. On wings where
my secret can quietly rest. Beautiful renderings, John.
