Deep in the darkness ,
Far distant from the light,
Shadows of leaves on the wall.
Ghost whisperers people the night.
Ghouls huddled together in closets,
Closed doors still give an impish fright.
Goblins fly in through the window,
Impervious to the darkness of night.
Imagined fiends terrorize little children,
Who tremble under the cover of night.
High up in the vaulted shadows
Lie even richer shades of darkness,
Lending even further a sense of mystery
To an otherwise innocuous sense of night.
When the imagination becomes reckless,
Monsters appear on the shadowy fringe.
The children lie stuttering and speechless,
Their little hearts feeling as if singed.
The night light burns brightly,
Softening the harsh darkness.
The night light preserves the light,
While darkness swallows all in sight.
The night takes on a secretive glow,
Night then offers assurance to bestow.
The half light lends a simple quietude,
To temper the lonely sense of solitude.
While your poem resonates with many, I can't say I ever feared the dark. Just looked at it as a time to sleep… And I did, deeply and peacefully with only a childhood nightmare once in a while.
there are so many pictured so nicely living things around that time of a day, how can you feel lonely, my friend? -- 'I am not your friend, buddy, I am a Knight of Dark!!' (not ozzy osbourne but a true one ;)) Cheers, alex
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
Love ya~

I will never a oppose.
I use those night lights,
to keep from stubbing my toes.
