Be Still

My body is on fire,
Full of desire.
Nothing cools it until
My body be still.

My mind always jumbles,
It continuously mumbles.
Nothing slows it until
My mind be still.

My heart is filling full,
The heart strings pull and pull.
Nothing will soothe it until
My heart be still.

My psyche has dreams,
Life is not what it seems.
Nothing becomes real until
My psyche be still.

My soul’s ground is fertile,
Its garden a solitary isle.
Nothing will grow there until
My soul be still.

My spirit will soar,
My effort is life’s oar.
I will never truly fly until
My spirit be still.

My world floats on,
A bubble on a pond.
May God’s peace us fill,
So that my world be still.
