In daytime, the world offers definition,
Everything we see has its own rendition.
The earth offers a carpet of solid ground;
The sky makes us feel safe and sound.
The earth as green as anything we knew,
The sky overhead like a dome, oh so blue.
At night, city lights steal the stars’ thunder;
A night sky in the desert a celestial wonder.
At night, a desert gives off an inhuman glow;
The stars seem to offer their peace, like snow.
As I gaze upward, I suddenly feel oh so small,
As small as the stars in heaven as they crawl.
Then I am touched and feel suddenly oh so big,
Just like a bird must feel, as it sits upon a twig.
AND THIS IS WHERE OUR 'SIGNIFICANCE' BEGINS...WHEN WE REALIZE AND CAN ADHERE TO FEELING...SMALL. IT IS THEN THAT WE ARE...BIG! WELL DONE AND ENJOYED, THANK YOU. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
I have never been awed by the night. For me it merely day sans light. I do understand where you are coming from, however. Plus the night is such that skullduggery abounds.
In modern urban society, few get to experience the awesome emptiness of a clear sky over the desert with no distractions of light and sound. It must be awesome at times and a bit, overwhelming. Something that caravan walkers experience almost every night in their long journeys.
Thanks for reminding us that there still are places where the sky is pristine and the night view is awesome.
