Thoughts of the Eternal – A Sonnet
By John Herlihy
The stars inspire thoughts of the eternal,
Musings that mingle with sleep nocturnal.
The magical lights reach down from above,
Sprinkling their mystery with intimate love.
Their light voyage from some ancient shore,
To whisper the meaning of their eternal lore.
The light so infinitesimal it carries no beams,
Mystery speaks for itself and is what it seems.
The thoughts of mankind but limited in number,
They disappear completely in night’s slumber.
But the stars, our own stars are so numberless,
Leaving us the human privilege only to guess.
But upon our awakening, we do guess no more,
The starlight vanished from our bedroom floor.
BEAUTIFUL THOUGHT INSPIRED BY GOD'S NIGHT LANTERNS...AS THEY, INDEED, WERE MEANT TO DO. ENJOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
