Simply White
By John Herlihy

Who needs all the colors of the rainbow,
On display there in the rain just for show.
Let us rest content with the color of white,
Without pretending that color is our right.
In the end, our earth shadowed in darkness,
With little thought for any kind of lightness.
Arch-devils roaming in the darkness of night;
Archangels dressed up in the raiment of light.
Images of a white knight vie with white snow,
Casting visions of pureness in luminous glow.
Whiteness enhances beauty as if home grown,
An imparting of some special virtue of its own.
The elusive quality of porcelain, ivory, or pearls
Captures the essence beyond what color hurls.
Indeed, white has become the color of mourning;
Other colors blend in the heart as white adorning.
Not just borrowed moonlight, bending thru angles;
But a white of grief and hope, glowing like angels.

IN THE BEGINNING THE WORLD WAS VOID AND DARKNESS COVERED THE EARTH...AND GOD SAID, LET THERE BE LIGHT, AND THERE WAS LIGHT! I DON'T CARE WHAT COLOR IT WAS ACTUALLY AS LONG AS...THERE WAS 'LIGHT'. IN FACT I'LL CONCEDE AND SAY...IT WAS WHITE, AS I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS. BUT IS THAT REALLY SO IMPORTANT? I MEAN, I DON'T WANT TO LESSEN 'THE' MOST STUPENDOUS, EXTRAORDINARY, MIRACULOUS MOMENT IN TIME TO WORRY ABOUT WHAT COLOR IT WAS. LIKE, I'VE OFTEN HEARD IT DISCUSSED; WHAT COLOR IS GOD? AND I DO MEAN THAT THIS CAN TURN INTO DEEP DISCUSSIONS, FOR REAL. DO I CARE WHAT 'COLOR'...HE...IS?!? ALL I KNOW IS THERE IS A GOD! AND OUR GOD IS SO MUCH GREATER THAN...HIS COLOR. AS IS THE FACT THAT THERE 'IS' LIGHT...IS...SO MUCH GREATER THAN WHAT COLOR IT IS...SIMPLY. THANKS FOR SHARING, JOHN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

"porcelain, ivory, or pearls"...........I'll take all three, please! Let there be no doubt though that I do love rainbows. Oh, and just send those "Arch-devils" to me. I have a white light that will blast them away! 'Enjoyed!

Love ya!

Unlike other colors, white goes with everything, and this was another beautiful write in black and white.

The eye should learn to listen before it looks. Personally speaking: White is a color my eyes hear very well. A fine message and imagery, John. Peace... r

Ahhh . . . The color white, a natural color which lends itself to grace of other colors as a steadfastness other colors share not. Unbrliveably purity.

Oh this is simply beautiful John...
I do love to look at Rainbows, and stunning prisms of colour...but I am also
drawn to the beauty and subtlety of White and Ivory...
What more beautiful sights to behold than Sunlight upon a fresh carpet of the whitest snow...
Or Moonlight sparking and scintillating on a hard Frost...
Grief willingly transmuted to eternal Hope...

A truly magical piece of writing....
Diana...

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
