-- Unnoticed –

I usually go unnoticed,

Just take my own solitary way.

I float like a lone lotus,

Speak with few words to say.

There is a blessing

In succeeding to remain unnoticed.

To live one’s life

Between the lines and out of focus.

Our destiny may go in any direction,

But never recorded.

Our life our one unique life,

Never asked for, but never aborted.

Forever on the reverse side of history,

Rough and cool to the touch.

Invisible lives from a time in between,

No need for a supportive crutch.

My eyes see

With the blue of a summer sky.

My ears hear

With the rhythms sounding nigh.

People cover themselves up

As if surrounded by a moat.

Dignity makes itself fashionable

And wears and ermine cloak.

Simplicity sees with clear eyes

And wears vestments of sheer silk.

Honesty knows no lies

And smells like fresh milk.

Who notices the individual flower

When they sweep the garden with their eyes?

Did anyone appreciate a simple act of kindness,

Or merely focus on all the things we despise

Much of the world goes unnoticed,

When overlooked, no need to feel sad or mind

It costs so little but means so much,

Just give yourself away and be kind.

Perhaps someone will notice.

Kind of melancholic, bittersweet, as we all have the innate need to be noticed, but it's proper to be unnoticed. Much can be said.

Random acts of kindness are always appreciated, and remembered. On the other hand, at 6 foot 3, I never go unnoticed. I tend to stick out like a sore thumb. Enjoyed your words of wisdom.

As I wrote in my poem, Vigilante, a solitary life can be dangerous. Or it can be very helpful and introspective like you show in this beautifully written poem. I especially like how you focus on stopping the sweeping gaze to look at the small beauty within and the poem's last two lines with their beautiful advice.
