For You
By John Herlihy
Who do I write for?
I am not sure I really know.
Words drawn from a deep well,
Pristine waters help me to grow.
I have always taken to myself,
To a faraway, secret place.
Where I can become as an elf,
Where no one can see my face.
Everyone seems so different,
Writing to Fred, Marion or Joe.
With their worries and interests,
Like all the people I ever did know.
Someone out there will read this,
Though not sure who it may be.
In writing for no one in particular,
Anyone may read what they see.
I just send it freely out there,
Drawn from my heart and soul.
Someone, anyone who may care,
Then it will be worth what I told.
If you are listening out there,
Somewhere under the sky blue.
With a few moments to spare,
All my poems are written for you.
