-- A Gift of Darkness and Light -–

John Herlihy

I go silent whenever I feel the blues;

With troubles ahead, I must find a way to choose.

Fate takes us down roads with twists and turns;

We tread lightly but the sole of our feet burns.

As if someone has given me a gift of darkness,

I need to open the box to set forth its lightness.

In times of trouble, some people resort to idle chatter;

They think empty words will make them matter.

Other people resort to making themselves busy;

They think to forget, hoping to make life easy.

Others will go into a funk and simply brood;

Nothing they do can uplift their doleful mood.

For me, silence makes a way inside to find a place,

Deep within the soul, our own personal space.

A kind of box it is, where darkness may reside;

A kind of gift it be, when opened its light will abide.

This poem is exactly what I needed today! "I go silent whenever I feel the blues;"~~~no doubt! "Silence is golden.".....I don't know who said that but it is true in my case for sure! Thank you for this. I know I'm behind (again). Very busy family! I'm grateful.

Love ya!

WITHIN LIGHT, WE CAN FIND DARKNESS AND WITHIN DARKNESS WE CAN FIND LIGHT. YES...ONE COMPLIMENTS THE OTHER AND WITHIN EACH...WE FIND THE UNIQUE 'GIFTS' THEY EACH REVEAL. AS ALWAYS, WELL DONE...AND, AS ALWAYS...ENJOYED. SO GLAD YOU'RE HERE, JOHN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Insightful and wise, thank you.

Silence is golden because it gives us peace and we can hear ourselves think. Sometimes our thoughts would give us the solutions we need.
