-- Wishes That Never Come True -–

John Herlihy

Some wishes always come true ,

They set up residence in the mind.

Hidden desires we always knew,

To make us happy, never unkind.

Some wishes never come true ,

Drawn up from some deep well.

Inner urges to disappear as dew,

Linger a while as a magic spell.

Our wishes float by us as clouds,

They never hang around or stay.

Some take root within to arouse,

A sad, fleeting song of a blue jay.

Like another, I wanted children,

Who play upon my heart strings.

I ended up being a lone pilgrim,

Appreciative of what life brings.

In my dreams, I imagined fame,

Where it may take me, how far.

I found content with my name,

My fame beyond a distant star.

Some wishes never come true ,

They live in the sky’s color blue.

A nice sentiment, John. I understand in my own way.

Believing there is a grand plan, I believe you and everyone is here for a reason not known to them............only to the One doing the planning. He moves us in the directions He needs us to go. I wish a lot too and sometimes I luck out. Great poem!!!

Love ya!

I HAVE HAD SO MANY WISHES AND WAS DISAPPOINTED WHEN THEY NEVER MATERIALIZED. BUT THEN, ONE DAY I UNDERSTOOD...A WISH GIVEN TO GOD, BECOMES A HOPE. AND, LIKE ALL THINGS...THE REALIZATION OF IT, IS IN HIS HANDS. I THEN FELT SATISFIED. ENJOYED VERY MUCH, THANKS. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

So many wishes we've all had, some maybe bad and some sad, but the ones that have come true, they always seemed for me to be the "color blue"...-e-

Priceless! Your expression here is so needed by so many who deny themselves the reward of finding Nirvana with what they have. Dreams will always be. It's not the fulfillment of a dream that counts, it's what we do with the process of realizing it... or not. Again, beautiful, John. Just beautiful.

No children? I would never have imagined that John. For me: any wishes I've ever had in my life, I had to work to make happen. Nothing was ever handed me. A palpable message. Thanks for sharing. r
