-- FROM SOFT CLAY --

John Herlihy

Smooth sculpture from soft clay

Even our earth will have its say

Shaped perfectly by loving hand

Breath to spirit by His command

Who could think such a miracle

To rise up in creation’s pinnacle

We spring of an innocence pure

Sorrow and misery we do endure

In our emotions a fire is kindled

Truth-beauty--bliss never swindled

We rise, we fall, based on our mind

Salvation made from another kind

It all began with a touch of a finger

Shaping, perfecting, willing to linger

INDEED, ISN'T GOD SOMETHING?! WE, EVERYTHING AND 'ALL', ARE NOTHING BUT CLAY THAT 'HE' SHAPED, FORMED AND BREATHED LIFE INTO. I DON'T KNOW HOW SOFT IT WAS, JOHN, BUT I DO KNOW THAT WITH 'HIS TOUCH' WE WERE MADE PERFECT... IN HIS IMAGE. AND, TO THIS DAY, 'HIS WORKS' OF CLAY...STILL STAND! A FINE PIECE, A KEEPER AND ENJOYED VERY MUCH. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

I found this to be a most eloquent retelling of many, many creation stories. With so many from so many peoples and places recounting almost the same things there MUST be some truth to it, don't you think?

I'm not a religious-minded man, John, but there is something very special concerning who we are and where we came from. So much so that I find I am scratching my head from time to time trying to understand it all
